Holding back tears, Terry Crews saw a piece of himself in the Detroit Youth Choir. Then, he hit the golden buzzer.
The last spots in the finals are up for grabs on “America’s Got Talent.”
But advancing to the finals isn’t going to be easy. The second group of semifinalists featured on Tuesday’s episode included four Golden Buzzer winners – Detroit Youth Choir, singer Luke Islam, acrobatic dance group V. Unbeatable and opera singer Emanne Beasha – along with numerous fan favorites, including magician Dom Chambers and comedian Ryan Niemiller.
Queen Latifah joined the panel of judges, and told the 11 acts to “leave it on the floor,” because only five will advance. And that’s exactly what Detroit Youth Choir did.
The choir of schoolchildren set Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre on fire with an emotional rendition of Panic! At the Disco’s “High Hopes” that left Gabrielle Union in tears.

“I started off crying and then I couldn’t stop,” Union said, adding that the group “took us to church, took us to praise and worship … took us to a step show.”
Simon Cowell agreed, declaring, “This is as good as your first audition.”
Union wasn’t the only judge in tears. Julianne Hough got emotional during Islam’s cover of “Never Enough,” from the movie “The Greatest Showman.”
“I feel like a proud mama right now,” she said to her Golden Buzzer winner. “You are beautiful, you are more than enough and I can’t wait to see you in the finals.”
Howie Mandel added, “There’s not guarantees in life … but I guarantee you that you will be on Broadway and your dreams will come true.”
Tuesday’s field also included guitarist Marcin Patrzalek; singer Chris Kläfford; the Voices of Service quartet; blacklight painter Alex Dowis and wildcard dog act Lukas & Falco.
Fans can vote up to 10 times for each act on NBC.com/AGTvote or through the “America’s Got Talent” app. The acts advancing to the finals will be revealed during Wednesday’s results show (NBC, 8 EDT/PDT).
