Alex Trebek had some good news to share with his fans.
“Jeopardy!” and its venerable host are back in business.
Alex Trebek, who announced to fans in March that he had been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, launched a new season Monday in his typical no-nonsense style.
“Today ‘Jeopardy!’ begins its 36th season on the air, and I’m happy to report I’m still here,” the 79-year-old said.
And with that, any reference to Trebek’s illness was done, and the game was on.

On Aug. 29, the show released a video to its Twitter account in which Trebek assured fans he was hard at work. “I’ve gone through a lot of chemotherapy and thankfully that is now over,” he said. “I’m on the mend and that’s all I can hope for right now.”
Trebek wisecracked about a new sort of game back in May during an interview with “Good Morning America” host Robin Roberts, joking about his chemotherapy-induced hair loss.
“The challenge for ‘Jeopardy!’ viewers right now is to figure out, ‘Is that Alex’s real hair, or is that a full hairpiece?’ ” he cracked. “Which is it?”
In the case of the CBS interview, the “Jeopardy!”-style solution was: “What is a wig?”
Trebek added, “We have the summer months off. So hopefully my own hair will grow back. Because I like my own hair.”
